From 1978 to 1986, it was known originally in Japan as the Forte, then the name was changed to Mitsubishi Strada although in most export markets it was already known as a model L200. In the united States were initially marketed by Chrysler Corporation under the name of Dodge Ram 50 and Plymouth Arrow Truck. He was from 1982 to 1996, when the japanese brand begins to market it with the name of Mighty Ma, after the name of Mitsubishi Rider. The first generation, produced from 1978 to 1986, was introduced in Japan. The second generation, from 1986 to 1996, was produced by Thailand. The third generation was marketed by commissioned from 1998. The fourth generation of L200 is built on the branch of Mitsubishi in Thailand. It was launched in the year 2006 and its design was made by Akinori Katsuya. The fifth generation was produced in Thailand in 2015, giving it a design quite renewed.

The Mitsubishi L200 has three types of cabin different so-called: : simple, club, cabin (and a half) and double.
